Here is the second podcast in the surgery videos series. This is a case of neurosurgical emergency.
The patient has suffered a head trauma, with skull base fracture, and an epidural hematoma. One pupil is dilated and death is imminent within minutes.
The patient is rushed to the OR, where one doctor (Dr. Sinuhe) makes the preparations while another doctor scrubs, fast craniotomy and hematoma evacuation then follows. The patient also had a subdural hematoma, which was consequently evacuated.
The video clip has a lot of video effects - these were applied in order to protect the identity of the patient and staff. Only Dr. Sinuhe is recognizable in the video clip.
