I started this project in 2004. The mission of this service was to provide an equal opportunity for everyone to contact a doctor free of charge. Due to an overwhelming number of questions, this Question and Answer format turned out to be too much to handle for one or even two doctors, so the active Q&A service was discontinued and instead, a discussion forum was provided for support and discussion related to health issues. The Health Forum is still active.
I believe that everyone should have equal access to medical care, regardless of money or social standing. I also believe that it is the duty of every doctor to provide not only medical care, but also information. Lack of information leads to unnecessary suffering, fear, and sometimes unrealistic expectations.
On my website I want to provide information that will help people cope with their illness, alleviate fear and concern, and help people make informed decisions about their health. The purpose of this website is to provide information to support, not to replace, the relationship between patient and physician.
